We aim to empower our homeless and improve their wellbeing. By providing the essentials for hygiene we aim to increase self-worth and confidence.
Our homeless are exposed to many different diseases and health risks, living outside and lacking the facilities to maintain proper hygiene. We aim to prevent a cause for health risks and the further spread of diseases through showers, a simple daily routine we take for granted.
Our homeless are both physically and emotionally vulnerable, often feeling neglected and ignored by society. Poor hygiene, evident by appearance or smell, takes away confidence, self-worth and causes further alienation. We aim to give them back their confidence and support engaging in social interaction by providing an opportunity for proper hygiene.
We aim to give attention to not merely a group, but to the individual. We acknowledge an essential part of a person’s wellbeing and a chance to increase their self-worth.
Hygiene can be a fresh start in life
We are all born equally and no labels or judgements can change that. Without a home we are deprived of many things, including the facilities to maintain proper hygiene. Personal hygiene is a basic need, essential for social interaction, to maintain a job and to be confident. Poor hygiene can also be a serious risk to health, through diseases or infection and even cause eventual death. Depriving the homeless of hygiene, exposes them to many health risks and deprives them of the opportunity to move past their situation.
Change starts with a small act, even a shower can do wonders and support the self-worth and confidence which are the building blocks for a new beginning. We believe we support every homeless person to get a fresh start.
